It is in a way a new born at Domaine Leflaive and yet in the family for many years.

The Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, La Maltroie, was acquired by Domaine Leflaive in 2005. It is a small plot of 1,665 square meters, producing about 3 barrels per year or less than a thousand bottles.

Located below the village of Chassagne, in flat, clayey, deep ground that retains a lot of humidity. Difficult in spring for its susceptibility to diseases, the soils allow good maturation during the heat of summer.

Pulled out and then completely replanted in 2006, the vines were managed biodynamically for ten years until 2017, when we considered these wines to be worthy of presentation.

The 2017 vintage is particularly delicate. Pale yellow in color, it expresses a subtle, very straight, finely toasted nose. On the palate, it expresses its fruity finesse, with aromas of citrus and particularly grapefruit. It also shows a freshness, a mineral tension that gives it the energy that befits Chassagne wines.

The aging potential is excellent. In its best expression after 5 to 7 years, the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru La Maltroie can certainly be tasted after 15 or even 20 years.

It will just give us the necessary patience to demonstrate it ...
