Leflaive wines form a large family, each of them with its own characteristics. They’re born from the same cradle, raised according to the same principles, but they express different personalities. Four branches united in the communion of tasting.

The unique emotionof Puligny-Montrachet

These wines come from the vines of the family estate, in the historic center of Puligny-Montrachet, and have been vinified rue de l'Eglise for more than a century. First the grands crus: these are rare wines, among the most in demand in the world, such as those of Montrachet with its 300 bottles produced each year. These appellations form a living heritage, renewed each year by the unexpected and the magic of vintages.

In addition to four grands crus, Domaine Leflaive offers five premiers crus, including a Meursault Sous le Dos d’Âne, on the edge of Puligny-Montrachet, and a Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie. These two prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Beaune, which enshrine Puligny, offer more diversity of expression than is usually characterized. In addition, there is a Village cuvée and a Bourgogne regional appellation cuvée.

The Diversity of Expressions of the Mâcon Wines

The terroirs of the Mâconnais region are geologically very close to those of Puligny. They are often unfairly underestimated. As a discreet reminder of the family’s presence in the Mâconnais region, these wines are simply marked ''Domaines Leflaive''. Over several stages since 2004, the Domaine now covers more than 25 hectares.

The diversity of expressions provided by the terroirs of the Mâconnais region often justifies parcel cuvées with a unique identity. In the Village Mâcon-Verzé appellation, the teams isolated Les Chênes, a parcel facing due west, and Le Monté, due north but adapted to the new conditions of global warming. Other plot cuvées will complete these first two in the future.

These wines can compete with those of Pouilly-Fuissé, the most prestigious appellation of the Mâconnais region, of which Domaines Leflaive offers three cuvées, two of them are plot-based. One of them “En Vigneraie” is now classified as a premier cru, from the 2020 vintage.

The vines, like the wines of the Mâconnais region, are cultivated by the teams of the Domaine in Puligny-Montrachet. A conversion to biodynamy of all 25 hectares is underway, with certification from 2023, even if biodynamic methods have been used since 2014. Long aging over eighteen months is practiced, compared to barely ten months in general in the appellation. This is to keep with the principle at Leflaive of two winters in the cellar so the wines stabilize naturally.

Cette collection de vins singuliers a vu le jour avec le millésime 2018. Au croisement des fabuleux terroirs de Bourgogne et d’un savoir-faire entre chardonnay et pinot noir. C’est l’esprit Leflaive qui s’aventure au-delà de la Côte de Beaune et du Mâconnais, vers le Chablisien et la Côte de Nuits, pour explorer tous les horizons de la Bourgogne.

Fruits de partenariats avec des vignerons choisis, qui travaillent des vignes souvent très âgées vendangées par les équipes du domaine, ces vins font l’objet de tirages modestes. De 300 jusqu’à 5.000 bouteilles au plus. Ils apportent de la diversité à la famille des vins Leflaive.

La collection Esprit Leflaive, qui comporte huit cuvées pour son lancement sur le millésime 2018, explore aussi le pinot noir. Pierre Vincent, le directeur général du domaine depuis 2017, possède un savoir-faire reconnu dans la vinification du cépage. Les terroirs ont été précisément identifiés : le Corton Les Grandes Lolières expose ses vignes de 65 ans plein-est sur des terres argilo-calcaires à mi-côteau. Un Premier Cru Pommard Les Arvelets et un Nuits Saint-Georges Village complètent cette offre de vins rouges signés Leflaive.
